Dad

My dad retired a week ago. It was one of the neatest experiences of my life. I knew my dad was a great man, but to be able to see others recognize him made it so much more special. I love my dad, he is my hero and I strive to be more like him each and every day.
He is the best grandpa I know and a wonderful father.  My favorite book is "To Kill A Mockingbird" in that book towards the end, as Atticus has lost his trial, the blacks are sitting in the balcony and out of respect for him they all stand, Scout is confused by this, Calpurnia says, "Stand up, your fathers passin." I can say I would stand for my father any day.
My dad is a great inspiration to his family, I recently found a quote that said; " Don't raise your son to be a hero raise him to be a son and then he will be a hero, even if it is in your own eyes." I know that your parents think of you as a hero. I know that your kids do. I love you dad.

Very nice tribute. Every time I read about the special retirement day I am sad that I couldn't be part of it. On the subject of you and books- have you read The Hiding Place by Corrie ten Boom? I'm reading it right now for my ward book club and wondered...

He really is such a great man. Wish I could have been apart of the big day.
